This weekend the BUCS
American Football season begins. 80 teams spread across three newly
structured tiers, will compete for the right to be crowned National Champions,
promotion and relegation.
The Ten teams across the Premier will be all out to be this year’s elite, one of course will
be aiming for a threepeat – current Champions Stirling having won back-to-back titles against a Birmingham side that will once again be
the favourite to topple their North of the Border rivals.
30 teams will compete across the next level of teams, with a
further 40 in the lowest tier. With the sport growing at a rapid rate each year
it was always going to be a tough job fitting in every team into a division that
suits them best, some regions lend themselves quite easily to have teams banded
together and others may have to travel more than would have liked.
4 new Universities enter the format this year – Heriot Watt, Edge Hill, Liverpool and East London. All competing in the lower
tier to aid their transition.
The full list of the teams, tiers and divisions can be found
here – http://www.ukfirstdown.co.uk/bafa/bucs/bucs-standings/ and each week we will bring you the results and updated standings as
well as extra features from teams, players and coaches right through to the
playoffs and title games.
